Are you tired of not understanding the financial side of your construction business?

How do you know if you’re making the right financial decisions for your construction business?

If you’re like many construction business owners and leaders, you’re strong on the construction and operations part of the business, or maybe sales and business development are in your wheelhouse, but when it comes to the financial side, you have questions like…

What’s the story your financial reports are telling you?

How do you get the financial side of the business set up right, understand what your financial reports are telling you, and use that information to “steer the ship?”

How can you predict cash flow at least a few months in the future?

The lack of confidence in your financial reporting...or the complete lack of financial reporting makes it difficult to make crucial decisions about your business, like…

- Can you afford to hire a new employee?

- How should you price your work so it’s profitable?

- Which projects should you bid on, and what should you avoid?

- Do you need a line of credit, and what does it take to secure financing?

Ryan was grappling with a lot of those same questions. Here’s his story…

Ryan was good at selling and project management, so he made the jump and started his own business doing remodeling, then grew into custom homes and some commercial work.

After a few years of growing the business, he felt like he was flying blind.

He was doing several types of projects, had several employees, but he didn’t feel like he had his thumb on the pulse of his business finances. Things were going OK, and he knew he was profitable...but there were a few things he didn’t know that bothered him.

“Which types of work are most profitable, and what should I stay away from?”

“What are my financial statements telling me? What do I need to do with them?”

“I need to hire a project manager and some field staff, but how do I know I can afford to?”

“What is my cash flow going to look like over the next 6 months.”

“How is my business doing compared to everybody else? Am I behind where I should be?”

Ryan’s lack of clarity and the lack of confidence in the financial side of his business caused some sleepless nights and got him into projects that lost money.

He also missed out on opportunities to hire good people he really felt like he needed, but wasn’t confident enough to pull the trigger on.

I’m curious...have you experienced any of those frustrations and questions?

“If you don’t have regular and accurate financial statements

you’re driving your business 100 miles an hour

down a one-way street the wrong way,

at night, in the fog, without lights.”

Jim Blasingame

Whatever you do, avoid these 4 situations:

While coaching and training construction business owners over the past few years, I’ve come up with 4 situations my clients find themselves stuck in.

You may be stuck in one, but you have to get unstuck and overcome each situation if you’re going to get where you want to be.

#1. Zero systems

Running the business out of a checkbook, maybe even mixing personal and business expenses.

Trying to make business decisions based on a bank account balance.

You know how important it is to get the financial side of the business set up properly, but it’s overwhelming and you don’t know where to start.

Result: You don’t have any financial information.

#2. Hoped software would take care of it

Signed up for accounting software, hoping technology will compensate for a lack of bookkeeping expertise.

Opened up the software to find it is completely blank.  No chart of accounts, no processes to follow.

Tried their best to get it setup, but didn't know how to do it.

Got overwhelmed and behind, and abandoned it.

Result: You have some information, but don’t have accurate financial reports you can rely on.

#3. Information but no insights

You have a bookkeeper and a CPA but you don’t feel like you can make business decisions based on the information they’re giving you.

Maybe you’re not sure how competent your bookkeeper is, or if they’re doing it correctly.

You have some financial information but you don't know what it means, or you don't have the confidence to make decisions based on the information.

Result: You have information, but you’re not able to make confident decisions with it.

#4. Trying to figure everything by yourself

One common problem is thinking you can (or have to) do everything by yourself.

Reading blog posts?

Listening to podcasts?

Trying to piece together a system from various sources.

That stuff will only take you so far. You need more. You need direction from experts who specialize in construction financials.

Who is helping you?

Who is holding you accountable?

Your answers to these questions are VITAL to reaching your goal.

Think about this...

How would it feel to know the most profitable projects you should focus on, and which types of work you need to drop?

Imagine knowing what your bank account will look like 3 months out...even 6 months.

Imagine opening up your financial reports, and knowing exactly what to do with that information.

What if you could set goals for your business and personal income, and know exactly how you’re tracking toward them?

What will it feel like to have a profitable business with solid financial data you can make decisions with?

What if you could confidently make big decisions about your business?

What’s going to be the best part for you?

What is this Masterclass about?

A lot of builders and remodelers are suffering from "profit bleeds" and chaos in their projects.

They get to the end of the project, end of the month or end of the year and they don't have enough to show for all the time, energy, money, risk, and everything else they put into owning a business.

Or...

Maybe they're profitable, but there's just too much chaos in the business.  Working too much, inconsistent results, unhappy customers, stress and anxiety, or even burnout.

Their business isn't supporting the lifestyle they want.  It's not creating the time and money that will allow them to do what they want, like grow the business, take a vacation, hire the right people.

Their business is a source of stress and frustration.

It's not giving them the time, freedom and sense of accomplishment they're looking for.

What if there were proven strategies you could use to boost your bottom line profitability, without hiring more people or finding more customers?

How would it feel to have a company that runs like a well-oiled machine?

What if you had more time, more money and more freedom? What have you been wanting to do for months or years?

That's why we built this Masterclass.  To show you how to harness the power of CoConstruct so your business will support your ideal lifestyle.

The strategies and tactics - which we've developed over the past 20 years of constructing over $500 million in projects - will give you the keys to running a profitable, low-chaos business.

How much does it cost?

Most people believe they have to hire a unicorn employee they can trust who understands construction finance, or spend years taking college courses so they can master the financial side of their construction business.

Instead, I’ve discovered that there are a few key things you need to learn and systems you need to put into place.

If you own or lead a construction business, or you plan to start a construction business, this is for you.

You have a few options:

Option #1: Keep doing what you’ve been doing...and continue being frustrated and annoyed with the results.

Option #2: You could find college finance courses, at a cost $600 - $1,800 per course, and hope they are applicable to a construction business.

Option #3: Recruit, hire, train and pay an employee to do this for you. The average salary of a Controller for a construction company is over $90k.

Option #4: Join the Construction Financial Masterclass and let a group of trusted construction finance experts and me help you master the financial side of your construction business so you can….

Have peace of mind because you know your numbers.

Make strategic business decisions with confidence.

Maximize the profitability of your projects.

Feel like you’re in the driver’s seat of your business.

Will this be right for my specific type of construction business?

This Masterclass will apply to every type of construction business. It is for residential, commercial, industrial, general contractors, specialty contractors, subcontractors...it's for everyone.

How much time will I need to commit to this?

The video modules are on-demand, so you can watch them at your convenience, as many times as you need.  You won't have to worry about missing live webinars.

Do I have to join live webinars?  When are they?

No.  You can watch the replays of the videos at your convenience, as many times as you want.

There are four weekly webinars beginning Thursday April 8th at 11am Eastern / 10am Central / 8am Pacific.

This Masterclass is not specific to a type of software. Quickbooks will be the basis of the training examples, but the concepts and principles you learn can be applied to any software.  You also do NOT need to use a specific project management software.

I'm just getting started with my business. Should I wait a while to sign up?

If you're in the first year or two of business, or planning to start a business, there is no better time to get your financial foundation in place. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 64% of construction businesses fail in the first 5 years.

Can I share this with my employees?

Absolutely. It will be a great training resource for you and your team.
